Transportation from Rijeka Airport

Island of Krk

The airport is located 25 km from the centre of Rijeka and therefore transport to the city is quite expensive.

For a taxi, Uber or Bolt you will pay around 40 eur to 60 eur.

Public transport is provided by a shuttle bus for 15 eur, which also stops in the towns of Omisalj and Kraljevica (both 7,50 eur).

Car rental

In the arrivals hall you will find the counters of several car rental companies such as SurPrice, Alamo, Sixt, Enterprise or AddCar.

Weekly rental rates in high season start at 190 eur.

Compare prices and availability of each car rental company in 1 click and book a car at Rijeka Airport.

A car is the ideal choice for travelling around the islands of Krk, Cres or Losinj, where public transport is not very frequent.

Public transport - bus

A special shuttle bus, operated directly by the airport, will take you directly to the terminal.

The bus runs on the route Rijeka - Kraljevica - Omisalj - Rijeka Airport.

The timetable follows the schedule of all scheduled flights and is available on the airport website rijeka-airport.hr/en/bus in pdf format.

ATTENTION! In the timetable in the link above, some connections are underlined in orange (they always run according to the timetable shown) and some connections are underlined in green.

Green connections must be pre-booked at least 24 hours before the journey via e-mail: information@rijeka-airport.hr. If this connection is not booked in advance, it will not run. Alternatively, in the event of a small number of bookings, the service may be provided by a regular passenger car.

If you are heading to Omisalj or Kraljevica, you must always book the bus stop (at least 24 hours before the journey):

  • for green-coloured connections by e-mail: information@rijeka-airport.hr
  • for orange routes by e-mail: transport@volivari.com

The bus runs only from May to October.

In all cities the bus always stops only at the main bus station. In Rijeka, it departs from platform number 5 at the Jelačićev trg bus station.

You can buy a ticket at the kiosk in the arrivals hall or from the driver.

Tips for hotels near bus stops

If you don't want to spend a long time looking for accommodation after arriving at your destination, here are some tips for hotels near the bus stops:

Taxi

Official taxis are usually waiting outside the terminal at each regular arrival during the summer season.

If you arrive in Rijeka on a domestic Trade Air flight, there will probably be no taxi waiting outside the airport.

Taxis are generally very expensive in Croatia. They always have to run according to the taxi meter, so the price varies according to the current traffic:

  • Rijeka centre - approx. 60 eur
  • Omisalj - approx. 20 eur

Uber / Bolt

Uber and Bolt mobile apps also operate in Rijeka. The prices are lower than taxis and you can reach the centre of Rijeka between 39 eur to 50 eur.

Generally Bolt is cheaper, but Uber has a much higher availability of drivers.

When going from Rijeka to the airport, it is not a problem to find a free Uber car and usually not a Bolt.

On the other hand, when going from the airport to the centre of Rijeka, many drivers will refuse a ride and the waiting time can be around 45-60 minutes.
