Tram (metro)

From Porto, there is a direct metro line "E" or rather fast trams to the airport. It connects the airport with the city centre, the train and bus stations, as well as the main football stadium. The metro runs every 20-30 minutes and takes you to the city centre in half an hour.

For timetables and maps of the Porto metro, visit the official website: en.metrodoporto.pt

A ticket for 75 minutes costs 2,15 EUR. You must select the Z4 ticket for the journey through the 4 zones, before that you must buy an Andante card at the machine for 0,60 eur, which you can use to buy additional tickets at will.

Unfortunately, however, it is only possible to load the same type of ticket as the first time on one Andante card. For example, it is not possible to buy a single ticket card for 2 eur and then top up a 24-hour ticket in the city the next day.

An all-day ticket called Andante Tour 1 costs 7 eur. The ticket is valid for 4 zones for 24 hours from the time it is marked and can be used on the metro, buses and trains throughout Porto and the neighbouring town of Vila Nova de Gaia.

If you will only be travelling around Porto and the adjacent town of Vila Nova de Gaia and not going to the marina in Matosinhos, it is worth buying one ticket from the airport for 2,15 eur (+0,60 eur for the card) and then in town the Andante 24 Z2 ticket for 4,20 eur (+ 0,60 eur for the card).

Tickets can be purchased from a machine at the metro station, where you can pay with coins, cash and credit card.
