There are some early morning flights from Ponta Delgada Airport and it can be convenient to stay nearby.
Where to stay near the airport?
Overnight in the terminal - opening hours
Ponta Delgada Airport is open 24/7, or only the public part of the airport. However, the terminal is small and has virtually no seating, with the exception of a comfortable bench in a local restaurant, which is closed at night but accessible to passengers.
There are, however, only about 5 free places to lie down.
Hotels near the airport
There is no accommodation directly next to the terminal or within walking distance. Looking at the map of hotels, it may appear that some of the accommodation is very close to the terminal as the crow flies, but the airport is separated from the surrounding area by a high escarpment which is not accessible except by a long detour across the road.
So look for the nearest accommodation in the centre of Ponta Delgada, which is a 10-minute taxi ride from the airport.
