Milan

Milan-Malpensa Airport currently uses 2 terminals which are completely separate from each other and located in different parts of the airport (about 1.5 km apart).

Terminal 1 is much larger, spacious and uncluttered and is used by all airlines except easyJet.

After security check, it is divided into three sections: two sections with gates marked with the letter "A" are for departures to Schengen area countries, the "B" gates lie after passport control and handle flights to non-Schengen countries.

Terminal 2 is exclusively for easyJet.

Transfer between flights

Transfer is not difficult, not least because it is always almost within a single terminal, as long as it is a guaranteed connection on a single ticket. There are no separate buildings to which you have to take automatic trains or buses, the transfer always takes place within a single building.

As long as you have a connection purchased on one ticket, any transfer time is sufficient.

Malpensa Airport is one of the very clear and well-organised airports and one of the most convenient of the major European airports for transfers.

Transfer within Terminal 1

There is no need to leave the transit area when transferring at Terminal 1 if you are connecting on one ticket or travelling with hand luggage only.

If you are connecting purely within the Schengen area, you do not go through any checks.

If you are transferring from a non-Schengen flight to a Schengen flight, you will go through security and passport control. Otherwise, only passport control.

When connecting on your own (two separate tickets), we recommend a minimum of 2.5 hours reserve.

Transfer within Terminal 2

On the other hand, it is not possible to transfer through the transit zone at Terminal 2. You must always go outside and go through security again before the departure lounge for all flight combinations.

Transfer between terminals

The two terminals are connected by a free shuttle bus that runs once every 20 minutes during the day, with a 30-minute interval at night between 1:30 and 3:30. The bus only runs in the public section. It is not possible to transfer between the terminals via the pure transit zone.
