Transfer at Malta Airport

Malta

Malta Airport has one relatively small terminal for passengers.

Cheap hotels near Malta Airport

At peak times, especially early in the morning and around midday, it can be very crowded, so be prepared for a shortage of seats and longer queues of up to 30 minutes for security checks.

Departures check-in desks are located on the left side of the terminal, arrivals on the far right. Security check-in is located on the 1st floor.

The terminal is uncluttered, but the area after security is cramped and does not accommodate the volume of traffic.

Transfer between flights

If you are connecting between flights within the Schengen area, then just follow the "Connecting Flights" signs and there is no need to leave the transit area at all. However, you will go through a security checkpoint reserved for transfer passengers only.

If you are arriving from a non-Schengen country for a flight back to a non-Schengen country, you do not need to go through passport control and you will go through security straight to the departure gate.

If you are transferring from a Schengen flight to a non-Schengen flight or vice versa you always have to leave the transit area and check in again.
