Internet and wi-fi

Shops and supermarket

Shopping options at Velana Airport are very limited.

After passing through security to the departure gates, you will only use the duty free shop and a few small souvenir or cosmetics shops.

There is no supermarket or small grocery store at the airport. There is also no pharmacy.

Dining

Dining options are, by contrast, very plentiful compared to the shops. Restaurants can be found in both the international terminal and the boat dock, which is 20 metres from the national terminal and 70 metres from the international building.

International terminal

Most of the restaurants are located after the security checkpoint.

  • The Coffe Club (café) - transit area (8:00-24:00)
  • Dairy Queen (fast-food) - transit zone (07:00-23:00)
  • Burger King (fast-food) - transit zone (9:00-23:30)
  • Thai Express (food court) - transit zone (7:00-23:00)
  • The Pizza Company (cafeteria) - public area (11:00-23:00)

Boat dock

There is no food service inside the domestic terminal, however, there are a few restaurants across the street in the wharf building.

  • KFC (fast-food) - open 8:00-22:00
  • Pizza Hut (fast-food) - open 10:00-21:00
  • Costa Coffee (café) - open 6:00-23:00
  • Harvest Market (local eatery) - open 8:00-22:00

Seaplane Terminal

At the modern seaplane terminal, take advantage of the Dhovemi Villa restaurant, open 8:00-19:00.

Luggage storage

Luggage storage is located in the international terminal near the bank branch.

It is open 24/7 and all-day storage costs 75 mvr.

ATMs and currency exchange offices

The international terminal is equipped with several Bank of Maldives branches where you can exchange money for Maldivian rupees at a fair exchange rate.

In addition to the exchange offices in both the international and domestic terminals, you can use several ATMs of the regular Maldivian banks, where foreign credit cards work without problems.
