Internet and wi-fi

Wi-fi is free to use and has no time limit. Select the "#HKAirport Free WiFi" network.

Don't delay buying a physical sim card upon arrival. Get a Hong Kong data e-sim quickly and easily on the web airalo.com.

Luggage storage

You'll find the baggage storage in the arrivals terminal on the left-hand side (opposite the counters of the bus companies to Mainland China and Macau).

The baggage room is open daily from 5:30am to 1:30am.

For 1 hour of storage, pay 14 hkd, while for storage up to 24 hours, pay 165 hkd. Payment is available by cash and credit card.

Showers

Free public showers are only available upon arrival. There are no showers available on the departure level or in the public area.

You can shower free of charge 24 hours a day:

  • Terminal 1, Arrivals Level, near Arrivals Gate 12
  • Terminal 1, arrivals level, near arrivals gate 43

Shops and supermarkets

The airport is well equipped with shopping options.

In the public areas of the arrivals and departures concourses, simple groceries and takeaways can be purchased at 7-Eleven mini-markets. Both branches are open 24/7.

You can purchase basic pharmacy items at several Manings drugstore branches located in the public and transit areas. They are usually open from 8:00 am to 7:00 pm.

After a security check, you'll pass through several duty free stores and shop at many upscale boutiques for fashion, watches, or jewelry.

ATMs and exchange offices

There are several exchange offices in the arrivals hall, but the rates are not very good.

You're better off withdrawing money from the ATMs of Hong Kong's regular banks (HSBC or Bank of China), which dispense money to foreign cards (such as Revolut) without a fee.

ATMs are located in the public area of the arrivals hall on the exit side of the transit zone (for example, near the 7-Eleven store). Cash will come in handy in Hong Kong, for example when buying public transport tickets, which cannot be paid for with a card in most places.

Drinking water

Many places offer free hot and lukewarm drinking water in your own bottle after a security check.

Look for stations marked as "Water Zone".

Smoking rooms

After the security check, you can smoke on the outdoor terrace called the "Sky Garden". The smoking area is located at the beginning of the terminal before the departure gate area.
