Supermarkets and shops

Frankfurt Airport offers a very wide range of shops, from luxury fashion boutiques to small stalls selling travel essentials.

The vast majority of shops can be found in the transit area. You can visit shops such as Hugo Boss, Burberry, Gucci, Gant, Jack Wolfskin, Samsonite, Swaroswki and many more.

There are several duty free shops or travel electronics stores.

Among the most desirable are supermarkets and mini-markets with groceries:

  • Superfood: mini-market - Terminal 1, Area A, transit area (6:30-21:00)
  • Quicker's: minimarket - Terminal 1, Area A, public area (6:00-19:00)
  • Quicker's: minimarket - Terminal 2, Area D, public area (5:15-21:30)
  • Quicker's: minimarket - terminals 1 and 2, transit area in many locations (24/7)
  • Hub Convenience - Terminal 1, Area B, public area (7am-3pm)
  • Hub Convenience - Terminals 1 and 2, transit zone in many locations (most 6:00-22:00)

Restaurants and snacks

Restaurants can be found in the public area and security, but there is more choice in the transit area. The well-known fast-food chain McDonald's is in the public area of both terminals and in the transit area of Terminal 2.

Which snack bars or restaurants are open before 5am?

  • Hermann's Mobil: small kiosk with coffee, sandwiches and sweets - Terminal 1, Area Z, transit area (24/7)
  • Kamps: bakery and café - Terminal 2, Area D, transit area (4:30-8pm)
  • McDonald's: fast food - Terminal 2, Area D, public area (2:00-22:00)
  • McDonald's: fast food - Terminal 1, Area A, public area (24/7)
  • Mondo: bakery and café - Terminal 2, Area D, transit area (3:00-20:00)
  • Scoom: bagels and sandwiches - Terminal 1, Area B, public area (24/7)
  • Trib's: bagels, sandwiches, coffee "to go" - Terminal 1, Area A, transit area (24/7)

Luggage storage

Luggage storage facilities are available in both terminals.

In Terminal 1, it is open 24 hours a day in Arrivals Area B and from 06:00 to 22:00 between Departures Areas B and C.

In Terminal 2, opening hours are also from 06:00 to 22:00 in the arrivals hall.

The price for 24 hours is from 9,50 eur.

Showers

From 6:00 to 23:00 you can also use the public showers located in several locations in both terminals, see detailed list. You can pay for them from 6 eur. The price includes towel hire.

Drinking water

In the transit area, after passing through security, you will find more than 30 drinking water fountains in both terminals.

You can fill your own bottle with cold water free of charge, but hot water is also available for children's meals or tea.

Travelling with children

Childcare facilities are located throughout the airport, typically near the toilets in busy areas of the terminal.

ATMs and exchange offices

Avoid ReiseBank and Travelex currency exchange offices due to their unfavourable exchange rates.

There are dozens of ATMs at the airport:

  • Deutsche Bank - free withdrawal
  • Franfkurter Sparkasse - withdrawal fee 2,50 eur
  • Travelex - withdrawal fee 5 eur + unfavourable exchange rate conversion
  • ReiseBank - withdrawal fee 5 eur + unfavourable exchange rate conversion

Viewing terrace

On the top floor of the public area of Terminal 2, you can use the observation deck to watch the traffic on the apron.

  • 10:00-18:00 (last entry at 17:30)
  • Free entry

Another open-air observation deck can be found in the Terminal 1 transit area above departure gate B-42 (non-Schengen flights only).

Smoking rooms

Frankfurt Airport is equipped with several ventilated smoking rooms after security checks. They are located in both terminals, see the list on the airport website: frankfurt-airport.com/smoking-lounges.

Drinking water

Drinking water dispensers with cold drinking water are located in many places after security checkpoints in all terminals.

Unfortunately, the nozzles are positioned in such a way that it is quite difficult to fill an empty bottle from them.

Vending machines

Vending machines selling drinks, sweets or chips are located throughout the airport in the public and transit areas.
