Transportation from Bilbao Airport

Bilbao

The terminal is connected to the bus service. There is no train or metro service to the airport.

Car rental

If Bilbao Airport serves as a base for you to travel around the Basque interior or hop around the lesser-known resorts, then hiring a car is definitely your best option. There are dozens of car rental companies at the airport, whose prices can be compared and booked at a glance, for example on the website rentalcars.com.

Prices range from 75 eur to 150 eur per week, depending on the size of the car or the rental company you choose.

Bus to Bilbao

There are public transport buses Bizkaiabus to the centre of Bilbao. The official website bizkaia.eus is only available in Spanish or Basque.

Tickets for both lines can be purchased from the driver. Line A3247 runs significantly more frequently, is faster but more expensive.

Route A3247

The main bus line runs from the airport directly to the centre. It stops at the Guggenheim Museum, the main Moyua Square and ends at the main San Mamés train station, among others.

The A3247 runs at a frequency of 20 minutes, once every 15 minutes during the day from April to October.

The first bus from the centre leaves at 5:00, the last bus from the airport at 0:00. The journey to San Mamés station takes approximately 25 minutes.

Route A2153

The complementary A2153 line runs from the airport to the surrounding villages, as well as to Bilbao city centre, which it enters from the north side. The final stop is near the main square of Moyua.

The A2153 bus runs once an hour from 7:00 am to about 9:30 pm. The journey to the centre takes approximately 35 minutes.

When travelling from the centre, the frequency of the A2153 is 20 minutes, but only every 3rd service goes to the airport. There are no buses to the airport with the destination stations "Parque Tecnológico" and "Larrabetzua".

Eibar, Arrasate, Bergara

Towards the east, use the Lurredabus connection number DG56B. The journey to Eibar takes about an hour with a journey time of about 3 hours. The first service from Eibar leaves at 5:15, the last at 21:15. In the other direction, the first bus leaves the airport at 6:45am, the last at 11:15pm.

Bus to San Sebastian

The coastal town of Donostia/San Sebastian, near the French border, is served by bus number DO50B, operated by Lurraldebus. The official website is: lurraldebus.eus.

The journey to San Sebastian takes less than 75 minutes and the DO50B runs once an hour from 05:00 to 00:00.

Bus direction Eibar, Bergara, Arrasate

Line number DG56B, operated by Lurraldebus, runs to inland mountain towns and villages. The official website is: lurraldebus.eus.

The bus runs about once every 3 hours (6 times a day in total).

  • Eibar - 8 eur, journey time 40 minutes
  • Bergara - 10 eur, journey time 60 minutes
  • Arrasate - 12 eur, journey time 75 minutes
