Transportation from Bardufoss Airport

Bardufoss

Bardufoss Airport Terminal is just 2 km from the city centre.

Car rental

If you're heading to Bardufoss for hiking, the only relevant way to get around the Norwegian countryside is by renting a car.

Avis and Sixt car rental companies operate in Bardufoss, with counters located in the arrivals hall. Due to little competition, prices here are higher than at Tromso or Harstad/Narvik airports, and you can pay from 550 eur for a week's rental in high season.

Walking to the centre

The centre of Bardufoss can be reached on foot in about 15-25 minutes. The entire route is on flat ground and most of the route is on pavement. Until the last 400 metres or so, you will have to walk along the side of a little-used road leading only to the terminal.

For a map of the walking route, visit google.com/maps.

Flybussen to Finnsnes

There is a special Flybussen FB90 bus service directly to the terminal, which connects to all arrivals and departures to/from Oslo. In case of flight delays, the bus will wait for the plane.

The bus always arrives at the airport 55 minutes before departure, which is plenty of time by a large margin.

On the way from the airport, the FB90 stops at the following places, for example:

  • Bardufoss Sentrum - journey time 3 minutes, price 99 nok
  • Sørreisa - journey time 25 minutes, price 189 nok
  • Finnsnes kai - journey time 55 minutes, price 249 nok
  • Silsand - journey time 60 minutes, price 249 nok

Tickets can be purchased with a card from the driver or online at flybussen.no, where you can also find a detailed timetable.

In the town of Finnsnes you can change to the ferry line 2 running 4 times a day on the route Harstad - Engenes - Brøstadbotn - Finnsnes - Tromsø. Ticket prices and the ferry timetable can be found on the website: fylkestrafikk.no.

Buses from the centre of Bardufoss

Other regional bus services connect at Bardufoss Sentrum, which is a 20-minute walk or a one-stop ride on the Flybussen.

The most important for tourist use is line 100 connecting Tromsø and Narvik. A detailed timetable with ticket prices can be found on the website: fylkestrafikk.no.
