Shops and supermarkets

The ground floor of the airport between the train station and arrivals serves as one big shopping centre. Here you will find all kinds of shops including regular supermarkets, newsagents, drugstores or pharmacies where you can buy cheap snacks.

In general, the public area is more utility shops, while behind the security checkpoint are luxury boutiques, souvenir shops or duty-free.

Two pharmacies can be found in the Lounge 2 and Holland Boulevard area after security check. Both are open from 5:00 to 1:30. In the public area (Plaza), the pharmacy is open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Restaurants and cafés

Amsterdam Airport is very well equipped with cheap fast-food joints and bistros, cafes, eateries and upscale restaurants.

There's a more substantial selection after security, but there are plenty of dining options in the public area of the airport too.

Showers

Public showers can be found at two locations in the airport transit area. The first is located in the Mercure Hotel at Gates F, G and H, opposite the KLM Crowne Lounge. Showers cost 19,50 eur including towel rental.

The second is located at the Yotelair Hotel by Gates D and E. Here you pay 17,50 eur for 45 minutes.

Luggage storage

Luggage storage is located in the basement of the arrivals hall between sections 1 and 2.

You can store your luggage here for up to 7 days and, depending on the size, pay for 24 hours from 6 eur to 12 eur. It is open 24 hours a day.

You can also leave luggage in lockers located in the transit area, where the price is flat rate for all locker sizes for 8 eur for 24 hours.

Observation deck

Amsterdam Airport boasts one of the most popular observation decks in Europe. It is located in the public section only (so you would have to go outside and then go back through security again when changing planes) in departure area 1, follow the signs for "Panorama Terrace".

Entry is unrestricted and free of charge.

Travelling with children

The Baby Care Lounge is a unique room for mums and dads with young children, where you can take complete care of your little ones. Entry is free and the spacious room is located behind security between departures 2 and 3. It is open from 6:00 am to 10:00 pm.

Smoking rooms

Smoking is prohibited throughout the airport and there are no indoor smoking areas.
