Turkish Airlines in Istanbul

What services can I expect during my flight and connection with Turkish Airlines? Turkish Airlines is one of those airlines that cares for its passengers and likes to pamper them. You will definitely be very satisfied on the plane and at the airport.

Refreshments on board

Turkish Airlines is one of the few European airlines to maintain free refreshments even on shorter flights from Istanbul to Europe. A full hot meal and soft drinks are served.

On long-haul flights, you can usually enjoy 2 main meals. Typically lunch or dinner followed by a light snack or breakfast.

Entertainment system

The so-called In-Flight Entertainment will keep you entertained even on flights longer than 10 hours. There is a huge selection of movies, series, documentaries or music and arcade games.

The on-board system is completely free.

There are screens in every seat on all aircraft, even on shorter flights in Europe or the Middle East.

In-flight wi-fi

You can use the internet on board all aircraft in several different packages, which are tiered according to internet speed and data volume.

In some areas over the oceans, internet may not be available.

Hotel during transfer

Passengers who are transferring between Turkish Airlines flights in Istanbul and have both on the same ticket are entitled to a free hotel during the transfer. The following conditions must be met:

  • There must be more than 12 hours between flights,
  • There must be no pre-existing connections between flights.

If you meet the conditions, look for the Hotel Desk at the airport to request accommodation. You can also apply earlier through your ticket agent.

The Hotel Desk is located in the public area, so you must first go through passport control, collect your luggage and turn right when you exit the transit area.

You will then be given a voucher for accommodation and transport to/from the airport. The Turkish Airlines minibus station is in the basement right by the elevators and escalators.

Tour of Istanbul

Turkish Airlines also offers a free tour of Istanbul for connecting passengers.

Those interested in this service must contact the "Tour Istanbul" desk at the airport upon arrival in the transit area near the transfer desks or in the public area near the "Hotel Desk".

Passengers must meet several conditions:

  • The applicant must be travelling on international routes with a connection in Istanbul, which must be on one ticket, for example Prague - Istanbul - Hong Kong,
  • The transfer must be no longer than 24 hours and no shorter than 6 hours,
  • Tour times range from 2.5 to 6 hours.

Free meal voucher on transfer

In case you have more than 6 hours to transfer in Istanbul, please collect a free meal voucher at the counters called "Care Point".

The voucher has no face value, but is valid for various menus at the listed restaurants in the transit zone, which are continuously rotated.

You can usually eat up to about 15 usd for the voucher.

Care Point counters are located in the transit area of the International Terminal at the following locations:

  • Near departure gate D1
  • Near departure gate A1
