Ryanair flights

Ryanair

The cheapest tickets with Ryanair can be purchased directly on the carrier's website ryanair.com. Given that Ryanair competes with other airlines, not just low-cost airlines, on many routes, it is always worth comparing prices across the market first. You can use transparent comparison sites like Skyscanner or Kayak to do this.

The usual price for the cheapest tickets is around 20 eur one way. Flights in high season are logically much more expensive.

Tickets can also be easily bought via a mobile app that can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.

When to buy tickets

When to buy tickets with Ryanair cheapest? The carrier's website usually shows the lowest prices in the 1-2 months before departure. This rule applies to all dates except for exposed dates such as summer holidays, Easter or Christmas holidays or major sporting events. In such cases, buy your tickets 4-6 months in advance.

Ticket fares

Ryanair offers four different fares depending on the additional services. The more expensive fare is only worthwhile if you are really interested in all the included services, otherwise it is better to buy the services separately.

Tariff Small baggage Second bag + priority boarding Seat selection 20 kg baggage Check-in at the airport Flight change
Value Yes for a fee for a fee for a fee for a fee for a fee
Regular Yes yes yes for a fee for a fee for a fee
Plus Yes Yes Yes Yes Yes for a fee
Flexi Plus yes yes yes for a fee yes free

The price for a given tariff depends on the specific line. The prices shown on the Ryanair website are always for 1 year. Usually a surcharge of 25 eur for the Regular fare to 100 eur for the Flexi Plus fare will apply.

Guaranteed exchange rate

If you are purchasing tickets in a currency other than your primary credit card currency, always decline Ryanair's guaranteed exchange rate before confirming payment.

The Ryanair rate is always less favourable than the rate you would automatically receive from your bank. Therefore, always pay in the original currency.

The system will know from your card number what currency you are paying in and if it is different from the original, the guaranteed exchange rate will appear. If the currencies are identical, this option will not appear.

How to refuse the exchange rate? Once you have entered your credit card, a small text notification will pop up below the form stating that the exchange will take place at the Ryanair exchange rate. Click on it to cancel your acceptance of the exchange rate. Your tickets will be cheaper.

10% discount for Erasmus students

From 2017 Ryanair is offering Erasmus 10% discount for all students with a valid ESN card. The discount applies to all Ryanair tickets and entitles students to carry 20kg of checked baggage free of charge. For more information, please visit the Ryanair website.
