The city's largest park, Slottsskogen, is located on the south-western border of the city and offers space for active recreation and relaxation. Wander the winding streets through manicured and wild greenery and visit the smaller zoos with moose, Goth ponies, Gute sheep and other Nordic animals.

Part of the park is maintained in the English style, while the other is left to its wild origins, including native trees such as linden, maples, beeches and oaks. The azaleas are famous in Slottsskogen, but these were planted here and are not native flowers.

There are plenty of cosy picnic spots in the park, as well as playgrounds or cafes.

The zoo is open all year round and admission to the zoo and the whole park is free.

How to get to the park

The park is a bit far from the city centre, so you have to take public transport to get there. The nearest tram stop is Göteborg Linnéplatsen and is served by trams 1, 2, 6 and 13.

You can also reach the southern border of the park at Göteborg Botaniska Trädgården, also with tram lines 1, 2, 7, 8 and 13.
