Gothenburg's oldest surviving houses, Kronhuset and Kronhusbodarna, can be found in the very centre of the city. It dates back to 1654 and was built to store military uniforms and other military equipment.

Today, Kronhuset is a centre for handicrafts such as chocolates, soaps, metalwork or ceramics.
