Busan's observation tower also called as Diamond Tower is a 120-meter high structure on a hill in Yongdusan Park near the city center.
It was built in 1973 in a shape resembling a lighthouse, referring to Busan's interconnectedness with the sea and shipping. From the beginning, it has served exclusively as a lookout tower. There are no transmitters installed on the Busan Tower, nor can you find any offices or restaurants there.
Since 2021, the tower has been officially named Diamond Tower, referring to the Gwangan Bridge in the northern part of the city, which is nicknamed the Diamond Bridge.
In the dark, Busan Tower is beautifully illuminated with several colors that alternate at roughly one-minute intervals.
View of the harbour and bridge
Busan Tower is one of the few places in the city that offers a panoramic view of the older part of the container port with the Busan Harbor Bridge, the famous bridge that is illuminated in many colors at night.
Admission and opening hours
The 115-meter-high observation deck is open daily from 10:00-22:00. The last entry is possible 30 minutes before closing time.
Tickets to the tower cost 12 000 krw.
How to get to Busan Tower?
The tower stands on a hill above downtown Busan, but you don't have to walk uphill.
Free escalators take you up most of the hill from the south side (location on the map). Nampo subway station is about 70 meters from these escalators (from the station use exit 1)
