The beautiful stone Royal Castle can be found on a small hill above the Old Town. Inside the castle, there is a permanent exhibition in the Museum of Applied Arts and the panoramic Poznan viewpoint, which you can find in the highest tower of the castle.

Museum of Applied Arts

The only museum of its kind in Poland, it offers over 2,000 exhibits from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Among the exhibits you will find pieces of furniture, ceramics, glass and metal tools and objects, weapons, jewellery, fabrics and design accessories.

Masterpieces chronologically arranged through history as tastes and fashions have changed.

Although the majority of the pieces on display are by Polish artists, you can also see products from other continents, including ancient China.

The observation deck

The observation terrace can be found in the castle's landmark, the highest tower. First, you move up a few floors by elevator and then climb up two floors.

From the terrace, you'll have a panoramic view of the whole city of Poznan, especially the historic centre and the Old Town.

How to get there

The castle is located in the very historical centre, so the best way to get there is on foot.

The nearest tram stop is Pl. Wielkopolski, reached by lines 7 and 8. The more distant stop Marcinkowskiego will be the main stop to get to the Old Town. Trams 2, 3, 5, 9, 13, 15 and 16 stop here.

Admission and opening hours

Tickets for the observation deck are included in the admission to the Museum of Applied Arts. A standard ticket costs 20 pln, but every Tuesday admission is free for all.
