Freia Sign

The advertising banner of the Norwegian chocolate manufacturer Freia, connected to a clock, is one of the most famous symbols of Oslo and can be compared to the iconic advertising billboard in London's Piccadilly Square.

The Freia chocolate advertisement was installed on the corner of Karl Johans gate and Øvre Slottsgate in 1925. During the night, the advertisement glows red and white.

During its existence, the Freia clock has only been covered twice. In 2012 during reconstruction and during the Second World War.

The Freia banner has a total area of 140 m2 and weighs 8 tons.
