Xlendi is considered the most picturesque village in Gozo.

It is dominated by a relatively narrow bay, but boasts perfectly clear water that invites swimming in the summer months. Xlendi has full facilities with many restaurants, shops and hotels.

Impressive cliffs

Most impressive, however, is the area around the bay. From the left, you can walk along the coastline, all the way to the medieval Xlendi watchtower, from where you'll have views of the open sea.

There is a Gozo Coastal Walk running through the village, so the footpaths are well maintained.

On the right side of the bay, you can climb up the adjacent cliff to enjoy spectacular views of the entire bay. You will also come across the magical Caroline Cave.

Xlendi is one of the best places to watch sunsets in all of Gozo.

Boating and other activities

In the bay, you can take a boat ride, rent kayaks or hire a jet ski to explore the surrounding area from sea level.

There are also some cruises that start from Xlendi around the island or cruises to Dwejra Bay.

The biggest companies operating water activities are for example the following:

Beaches and swimming

In the middle of the promenade right in the centre of Xlendi you will find a small sand and shingle beach. Xlendi is not a typical resort where you would head for swimming. The beach is really small (about 5x10 meters) and is more suitable for a one-off swim.

There are free showers by the beach.

Accommodation in Xlendi

Xlendi is one of the most popular places to stay in Gozo due to its scenic beauty, the opportunities to walk along the cliffs and the tourist facilities.

How to get there

Xlendi is reached by main road from both Victoria (3km) and Ta'Sannat (2.5km). There is a large free car park right in the centre and free parking is also available along the main road.

Although the car parks tend to be completely full in the summer season, you should always find a free space within 10 minutes.

Book a car at Malta Airport

Xlendi is also well connected to the bus network.

  • Line 306 - runs once an hour on a circular route Victoria - Munxar - Xlendi - Victoria
  • Line 330 - 5 times a day direct to Victoria

There are also "Gozo Sightseeing" tourist buses on the purple line to Xlendi. They run 1x every 45 minutes in the summer season and 1x per hour in the winter. A day ticket for both tourist bus routes costs 20 eur. However, the ticket is not valid for public buses. Timetable and other information: city-sightseeing.com//gozo.
