The beach in Ghajn Tuffieha Bay is a great alternative to the next and much more famous Golden Bay Beach, which is almost literally a stone's throw away (less than 1 km).

Ghajn Tuffieha Bay offers gorgeous golden fine sand and a gradual entry into the sea, and is the perfect combination of a secluded beach in a beautiful backdrop.

There are often bigger waves ideal for surfing, in fact you'll find the Malta Surf School stand right on the spot.

From Ghajn Tuffieha beach you can watch the most beautiful sunsets in Malta.

Beach amenities

In high season, you can rent sunbeds and parasols here, but the price is high and for a set of 2 sunbeds and a parasol, the price ranges between 17 and 19 eur per day.

There is a restaurant right on the beach with toilets and showers. There is another restaurant by the car park above the beach.

Accommodation by the beach

There are no hotels directly on the beach or in the immediate area. The cheapest place to stay is 4 km away on the opposite coast of the island. Prices under 70 eur per night will offer for example Porto Azzuro Aparthotel.

How to get there

Ghajn Tuffieha is 4 km from the village of Mellieha and about 20 km from the airport.

By car

There's a large free car park about 100 metres from the beach, but expect to walk about 70 metres down a flight of steps to the beach. Enter "Ghajn Tuffieha Bay" in the navigation.

The car park is free, but it tends to be hopelessly busy by around 9am. There is another car park less than 1km away at Golden Bay beach, but even here it tends to be full from early in the morning.

By bus

There are also buses to the beach. The bus stop is at a junction about 60 metres from the car park and is called "Ghajn Tuffieha - Riviera".
