Budavári Sikló

The historic funicular railway (Budavári Sikló in Hungarian) was put into operation in 1870, but was completely destroyed by bombing during World War II, and then put back into operation in 1986. The cable car will take you to the Buda Castle complex. You will find the boarding station at the gate to the tunnel under the castle near the Chain Bridge.

An interesting fact is that the cable car works on the pulley principle, where two cars always go in opposite directions on 2 tracks.

The length of the track is 95 metres and the journey takes about 90 seconds. To pay for a ticket visit 4 000 huf, and only the return journey is sold.

The cable car runs from 8:00 to 21:50 every 5-10 minutes. The journey takes less than 5 minutes. Official information can be found on the website: bkk.hu/funicular.
