Agios Pavlos

Agios Paulos

The largest church in Thessaloniki is dedicated to Saint Paul and can be found in the Agios Pavlos district of the same name. It is one of the landmarks of the eastern part of Thessaloniki and can be seen, for example, from the viewpoint at Trigonion.

The Agios Pavlos Church is not a historical monument, it was built only in 1997 to commemorate the feast of St. Paul. However, its architecture honours traditional Orthodox churches and makes it one of the very nice sights to visit.

The interior is open to the public from 7:00-12:00 and 15:00-18:00 and admission is free.

The church can be reached by a comfortable walk from the city walls or by bus number 24, which leaves from the central bus stop by the promenade (see map) and passes through the centre.
