Do you love lively resorts with beach promenades but a village atmosphere if you walk a few dozen metres from the centre? Then Nikiti, the largest resort on the Sithonia peninsula, is the right choice for you.

View the top 10 hotels in Halkidiki

The local beaches are long but quite narrow and, thanks to Nikiti's size, often crowded, but the town's wide range of accommodation, services, shops (including a Lidl supermarket) and excursions make it a great base for exploring central Halkidiki.

Beaches and swimming

Nikiti's coastline is lined with over 3km of sandy beach, with a promenade of tavernas, bars and shops winding along almost its entire length. Nikiti Beach will be the right beach for those who love the relentless splashing and the wide range of water activities on offer.

If, on the other hand, you prefer quiet, more spacious beaches and a more rural atmosphere, head to Ormos Panagias, 15 miles away.

Accommodation Nikiti

Despite the size of the resort, it is not popular with Czech tourists and tour companies do not normally organise tours here. Individual travellers, on the other hand, can take advantage of the wide range of accommodation on offer, making Nikiti a great base for exploring the Sithonia peninsula.

For cheaper studios or apartments 55 eur per night, we'd choose the Marina Guesthouse near the beach or the Mavridis Rooms apartments.

Expect hotel prices from 92 eur, some of the best are definitely Serenity Suites **** close to the centre and about 300 metres from the beach.

How to get to Nikiti?

The resort is 88 km from Thessaloniki airport and can be reached by car in less than an hour and a quarter. Most local accommodations offer free parking.

There are also regular KTEL-Chalkidikis buses to Nikiti, search for the destination on the web under the name "Nikiti":
