At the southern tip of the middle promontory of Sithonia lies the small village of Kalamitsi on the shores of the bay, surrounded by green hills. It boasts several beautiful beaches, peace and quiet.

Kalamitsi has only a few houses, most of which are used by tourists in the summer. Mostly as apartments and tavernas, of which there are around 15 open during the summer along the two main beaches.

You will of course also find a small grocery and beach equipment shop. Don't expect any nightly entertainment in Kalamitsi, instead it is mainly sought after for its tranquility and beautiful surroundings.

Beaches and swimming

The rugged coastline of southern Sithonia creates beautiful panoramas and conditions for lovely beaches in small coves. And Kalamitsi is one of the areas with the best bathing in the whole of Halkidiki.

Directly in Kalamitsi you will come across 2 beautiful spacious beaches of 200 meters in length with several restaurants and stalls right on them. Like all of Sithonia, they boast crystal clear water, sun lounger rentals and even a public beach volleyball court.

The rocky surroundings make for a very photogenic setting, plus great conditions for snorkelling. The middle of the bay is always sandy and therefore the entry into the water is comfortable and safe.

Literally around the corner, i.e. behind a small rock cliff, from Kalamitsi you can enjoy a private beach on a small sandy beach without any equipment, surrounded by a beautiful dramatic coastline.

Accommodation in Kalamitsi

The village is really small, and so the accommodation on offer is sparse, and in a much higher price range than the surrounding larger resorts. In high season, expect prices from 110 eur per night upwards, but you'll be rewarded with a very peaceful environment.

For more deals, look in nearby Sarti or Toroni.

How to get to Kalamitsi?

The resort is 142km from Thessaloniki Airport and can be reached by car in about 2.5 hours. Most of the local accommodation offers free parking, and even the parking at the beaches is free.

It's definitely best to head to Kalamitsi by rental car due to the inaccessibility of the smaller beaches nearby by bus.

Compare prices - book a car

However, if you're not planning on visiting the smaller beaches around the area, Kalamitsi itself can also be reached by KTEL-Chalkidikis bus, search for the destination on the website under the name "Kalamitsi":
