It's definitely not the place you think of when you say Paris. If you're interested in an unconventional experience where you experience something different, a visit to the Grand Mosque might be just the thing for you.

The Grande Mosquée de Paris is the oldest and largest mosque in France, the 3rd largest mosque in Europe overall, and was completed in 1926 in the Moorish style. It includes not only prayer rooms, but also a library, a school, a garden and adjacent restaurants, tea rooms or hammam (spa and massage for tourists as well).

It is open to visitors every day except Fridays and Muslim holidays from 9:00-18:00. You pay a pleasantly low entrance fee of €3 for adults, €2 for children and students. For more information, visit: www.mosqueedeparis.net.

Place Monge (line 7), Jussieu (lines 7, 10) and Gare d'Austerlitz (lines 5, 10 and the RER C train) are about 5 minutes away on foot. Next to the mosque you can visit the beautiful botanical garden (Jardin des Plantes) with a small historical zoo.
