Paris Plages

Paris Plages

Every summer since 2002, the Paris Plages, or Paris Beaches, have opened right in the historic centre of Paris on the banks of the Seine River. The popular spot, with its sun loungers, parasols and artificially imported unadulterated fine sand, creates an ideal space to relax on warm summer days.

The beaches are only suitable for relaxing and sunbathing, swimming in the Seine is not possible due to the high banks and boat traffic. For a free swim at a public swimming pool, head to the Bassin de La Villette canal in western Paris.

Where are the beaches of Paris located?

Paris Plages can currently be found on the right bank of the River Seine in a place called Parc Rives de Seine - see map.

Outside of summer, there is a pedestrian promenade road that is covered in sand and lined with deck chairs, parasols and artificial palm trees from about June to August.

When are the beaches open?

Every year for 4-5 weeks sometime between July and August (usually from 10 July to 20 August, but dates vary from year to year).

How much is the entrance fee?

The beaches are open daily from 9am to midnight and admission is free, as is the use of sunbeds. So arrive as early in the morning as possible, places fill up fast!
