Jardin des Tuileries

Park Tuileries

A very beautiful and popular park that is impossible to avoid when travelling around Paris is the Tuileries Garden. It's a place where many tourists and locals flock to have a chat or just enjoy a bit of nature.

The original park was built by Catherine de' Medici in 1564 for her palace, which unfortunately no longer stands. There are several interesting things to see throughout the park.

The 10 best hotels in Paris

There are large water tanks with water jets that people sit around. If you'd like to explore the park more, head off the main wide street to explore the beautiful statues and enjoy the tranquility.

If you get hungry or craving coffee, it's no problem. There are a couple of cafes, cafeterias and you can even buy something sweet.

The main attraction of the park is usually the Arc du Carrousel, which is located in front of the courtyard of the Louvre and was built by Napoleon Bonaparte.

When visiting the park, the Musée de l'Orangerie is also a popular destination for those interested in art, where you will find works by the famous painter Monet.

Entrance fees and opening hours

Admission to the entire park is free and opening hours vary according to the season.

From the last Sunday in September to the last Sunday in March 7:30-19:30. Last Sunday in March-last Saturday in September 7:00 am-9:00 pm. Exceptions are the months of June, July and August when the park is open until 11:00 pm.

Location and transport

You won't want to miss the gardens as they are located next to a very popular tourist spot, the Louvre Museum. On the other side, the park is topped by the Place de la Concorde with its famous Egyptian obelisk.

It is very easy to get here, but it depends on which side you approach from.

The Louvre is reached by metro at the Palais Royal Musée du Louvre station (line 1, 7). In the middle of the park, the metro goes to Tuileries station (line 1) and at the other end you will find Concorde station (line 1, 8, 12).

It is therefore advisable to combine the park with a visit to the obelisk and the museum, or visit nearby attractions such as Place Vendôme and La Madeleine Church.
