Restonica

Restonica

Thanks to its unspoilt nature, the Restonica River Valley is one of the most beautiful places in Corsica and a popular destination for hiking and road-tripping.

The Restonica River winds its way through the pine forests, dotted with granite boulders, while the open views of the majestic Monte Rotondo massif, almost 2,700 metres high, appear every now and then between the treetops.

The 10 best hotels in Corsica

The Restonica Canyon starts in the historic town of Corte in the middle of Corsica and continues up to 1,370 metres to the starting point of the hiking trails to Lac de Melu and Lac de Capitello.

Walks and road-trips

The Restonica valley is the perfect destination for a road trip in Corsica.

An asphalt road winds along the river, every few hundred metres you'll come across a small car park from which you can take a short walk to the river, take a dip in one of the many pools and enjoy the views of the monumental mountains in the area.

Roughly in the middle of the valley, the road crosses the Forêt de la Restonica, a forest of mature pine trees mixed with chestnuts, typical trees of the Corsican hinterland.

Since 2023, the last 6 km of the road have been completely destroyed due to landslides.

The minibus from Corte

From the town of Corte to Frasseta at 940 metres, a shuttle minibus runs daily from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm from May to September.

The bus runs once every 30 minutes and a one-way ticket costs 4 eur.

Accommodation in the valley

Right in the middle of the valley, you'll come across the idyllic riverside Camping du Turani. From the classic accommodations, choose the well-rated Hotel Arena restaurant le Refuge at the head of the valley, or stay in the town of Corte.
