The wild and breathtaking beach at Bathsheba on the east coast of the island will delight you with photogenic views and a dramatic coastline so different from the west and south of Barbados.

The beach is popular with surfers thanks to the high waves from the Atlantic. Those who aren't into water sports will enjoy the sight of the majestic chunks of rock jutting out of the water that are a hallmark of this beach.

The beach The Soup Bowl is loosely connected to other beaches in the area. All of them are covered with fine light sand often mixed with algae. There may also be smaller pebbles around the rocks.

You won't find sunbed rentals, restaurants or shops on the beaches here. There are also no water sports stalls and surfers have to make do with their own equipment.

Accommodation Bathsheba

Stay in the town of Bathsheba if you want to experience Barbados from a different perspective to the densely populated west. Right on the beach overlooking the sea, you'll find a more expensive hotel The Atlantis Historic Inn *** with very spacious suites.

Very cheap accommodation in fully equipped cottages is offered by a guesthouse Rest Haven Beach Cottages. A night for 2 here goes for as little as 58 usd, which is one of the lowest prices on the island.

Transport - Bathsheba

The beach is located right in the town of Bathsheba, through which the ring road around the island passes. Bridgetown is 27 km away (route map: google.com/maps). You can park for free anywhere along the road in the impromptu car parks.

Car rental in Barbados

Bathsheba can also be reached from Bridgetown about 1-2 times per hour by bus and minibus.

  • Line 99 (van) runs from Constitution River Terminal
  • Line 6 (bus) runs from Fairchile Street Terminal

You can also get to Bathsheba about once every 2 hours by bus line 1A from Speightstown.
