Kahlenberg

Kahlenberg

The Kahlenberg is located on the very northern edge of Vienna and is one of the most popular weekend spots for Viennese nature walks.

At 484 metres high, the hill is the highest point in Vienna, and its steep vine-covered slopes offer stunning views of the whole of Vienna with the Alps in the background.

Hiking paradise

The entire Kahlenberg area is literally criss-crossed with dozens of kilometres of marked hiking trails that wind through vineyards and deep forests, most of which offer beautiful views of Vienna, the Danube or the historic town of Klosterneuburg on the other side of the hill every few metres.

Location and transport

The very busy bus line 38A runs directly to the top of the Kahlenberg from the U4 Heiligenstadt underground terminus.
